Approval to Import Motorcycle over 700cc

In keeping with the restriction imposed on goods listed in the Customs (Import Prohibition) (Miscellaneous Goods) (No.2) Order, 2010, the Jamaica Constabulary Force is authorized by the Ministry of National Security and Peace, to process applications for consideration by the Minister, for approval to import motorcycles with an engine displacement exceeding the prescribed limit of seven hundred cubic centimeters (700cc).

To be eligible, an applicant must be a member in good standing, of the Motorcycle Association of Jamaica or another approved and registered motorcycle club or organisation, be the holder of a valid motorcycle driver's licence, have no criminal record and consent to background checks/character screening by the JCF.

Before you begin

Check that you and the machine qualify. Applications that fall outside these limits cannot be processed through this portal.

Engine capacity

Engine displacement exceeding 700cc. A machine of 700cc or less does not require approval.

Age of machine

No more than 5 years old, in line with the national motor vehicle import policy.

Club membership

You must be a member in good standing of the Motorcycle Association of Jamaica, or another approved and registered motorcycle club or organisation.

Motorcycle driver's licence

You must be the holder of a valid motorcycle driver's licence.

No criminal record

You must have no criminal record, and consent to background checks and character screening by the JCF.

A unique VIN

The 17-character VIN drives the application. Only one live application may exist per machine.

Documents you must upload

Have these ready as PDF, JPG or PNG files of up to 10 MB each.

Character Reference (Motorcycle Association/Club)

Signed reference on club letterhead from a registered Motorcycle Association or Club confirming your membership and good standing.

Police Record / Criminal Clearance Certificate

Police Certificate issued by the Jamaica Constabulary Force, dated within the last six (6) months.

Title / Deed / Export Certificate of the Motorcycle

Title, Log Book, Export Certificate or De-registration Certificate issued by the authority in the country of purchase.

Photo Identification

Clear copy of the identification document matching the type and number entered on the application.

TAJ Payment Receipt

Receipt for the application fee. Payment is made at Tax Administration Jamaica — this portal does not take payment. Upload the receipt and enter its number, date and amount so the reviewing officer can check it against TAJ records.

How your application is processed

Your application is made to the Ministry of National Security and Peace and processed on its behalf by the Jamaica Constabulary Force — Specialized Operations (SpecOps), for consideration by the Minister. Every application passes through each stage below, and the approval is issued under the Ministry's authority once the JCF's checks are complete.
